The Chief of Abola and Ga State Asafoatse Onupka has issued an important clarification following reports of a clash between the people of Omanjor Dweneho and participants of the Sowutum Homowo Festival.
In his statement, the Chief emphasized that neither he nor the Ga State leadership had any involvement in the unfortunate incident. He described the situation as regrettable and urged the public not to attribute blame to the Abola Stool or Ga traditional authorities.
According to the Asafoatse, the Ga State values peace, togetherness, and cultural celebration, and would never support actions that disturb harmony during such significant traditional festivals. He highlighted that Homowo, which symbolizes the triumph over hunger, is a sacred occasion meant to unite communities, not divide them.
“We wish to state clearly that we have no hands in the crash. Our duty is to protect tradition, promote unity, and guide our people in peace. Any attempt to drag our name into conflicts is unfair and misleading,” the Chief stated.
