NUNGUA, ACCRA: The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Krowor Municipal Assembly, Hon. Paul Afotey Quaye, has engaged members of the Nungua Market Shop Owners Association on plans to establish a 24-hour economy market and commercial centre in Nungua.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the MCE to interact with shop owners and other stakeholders on the proposed initiative, which seeks to strengthen commercial activities and create a more organized and vibrant business environment within the municipality.
Hon. Paul Afotey Quaye emphasized the importance of developing a modern commercial centre capable of supporting businesses and providing residents with opportunities to trade beyond the traditional daytime business hours.
According to the MCE, the proposed 24-hour economy market and commercial centre is expected to contribute to job creation, expand business opportunities and stimulate economic activity in Nungua and the wider Krowor Municipality.
He explained that the initiative forms part of efforts to transform Nungua into a major commercial hub, with improved facilities that can accommodate traders, entrepreneurs, service providers and other businesses.
The MCE also stressed the importance of stakeholder collaboration, noting that the Assembly would need the cooperation and input of market shop owners, traders, traditional authorities, businesses and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
Hon. Afotey Quaye said a well-planned commercial centre would not only provide an organized environment for businesses but could also attract new investments and create additional income-generating opportunities, particularly for the youth.
He further expressed optimism that the project, when fully realized, would help position Nungua as a vibrant destination for commerce, while contributing to the broader objectives of Ghana’s 24-hour economy agenda.
The engagement with the Nungua Market Shop Owners Association underscores the importance of involving key stakeholders in discussions surrounding the proposed development to ensure that their concerns, ideas and expectations are considered.
The proposed project, when implemented, is expected to have a positive impact on businesses, employment and economic growth within Krowor Municipality.
